Originally designed by French architect Lafayette in 1932, the hotel is China's first deluxe City Heritage Boutique Hotel. With its unique historical heritage, the Mansion Hotel captures the essence of old Shanghai, a period when this great city was considered the ‘Paris of the Orient'. The villas design reflects this wonderful era gone by with its graceful fusion of Classic French and Asian architecture that made Shanghai one of the world's most beautiful and elegant cities.
The villa has a colorful history as the Mansion Hotel was originally built as the residence of Sun Ting Sun, a partner of the infamous Shanghai syndicate boss Du Yue Sheng, until the liberation of Shanghai in 1949. During this period the villa was also used to operate the organizations legitimate and illegitimate business operations and at night the cities most extravagant parties attended by the city's most influential residents. The hotels lavishly adorned lobby and traditional styled boardroom is in fact a living museum that portrays and reflects this opulent period of time in Shanghai.
With 32 exquisitely decorated guest rooms each with its own individual design and layout, the Mansion Hotel offers its guests the ‘personal touch' that cannot be offered or replicated by any other hospitality property in the city. Standard offerings include deluxe king size beds, armchairs with ottomans, business desks complete with 3 in 1 printer, fax and scanner and wireless high-speed Internet access. For the guests entertainment the rooms have stereo CD/Radio systems as well as Bose iPod SoundDocks and 42” Panasonic HD Flat screen televisions with cable system offering over 60 channels, mostly in Chinese but that include CNN, BBC World News, Star Sports, ESPN, HBO, Cinemax and AXN. The guest rooms are complete with minibars and refrigerators, tea/coffee kettles, complimentary champagne upon check-in, complimentary one hour massage upon check-in, and free bottled water. Bathrooms have marble floors and countertops with separate Jacuzzi baths and high pressure full body showers with Japanese-style combination toilet/bidets. Bathroom scales, hair dryers, makeup mirrors, bathrobes and slippers are included as well as Hermes personal hygiene products.
The hotel features a traditional styled gourmet Chinese restaurant serving the finest seafood the city can offer and a rooftop restaurant/lounge with terrace overlooking the French Concession District and the city's breathtaking skyline serving the finest Western Bistro-style cuisine. The hotel also offers seven deluxe function rooms for dining, business or private events. |
